Well, I haven't noticed too much of a slow down while the boards been up, but there was that down period that didn't stop until a couple hours ago or so.
Actually, I think it has been a little slower, but I think as soon as it's served it's purpose that thread will be put away again.
Only for special occasions

It seems to vary at different times of the day, so I suspect it is something to do with the number of users on the board. Now there is just over 50 users, and for me, it is pretty quick. At some point during the week there was getting on for 200, and everything was slow.

I'm sure it's lack of bandwith. and probably that 1300 post thread, but more likely the lack of bandwith, that Z has mentioned.

I believe bandwidth is the server's capacity to send/recieve information... or something like that...

I think it's because Rikard is masquerading as the Goddess of Death, myself.

Its the traffic that the server has coming from it. Basically, every last bit of Ironworks is on servers- mostly on Zs server (only execption is sig pics); whenever you view these images, bandwidth is used.
Sig pics dont count toward IW bandwidth unless Z hosts them himself (which admitadly is a fair few); but every other image you see here does... so the background, the avatars, smilies, posticons, buttons, the images at the top of every forum, the images on the front page, and possibly the images at tgeweb all take up bandwidth when someone is viewing them.
