I would no tlet my husband do anything like that, he knows even less about computers than I do, he has enough trouble starting one, let alone formating anything

Manual removal of isearch tips from the net: (I just never seems give up so easily)

Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove ISearch Toolbar manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If ISearch Toolbar remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.

1. Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)

2. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.

3. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer\Browser Helper Objects \ {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.

4. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\{1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.

5. Delete 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser\{1C78AB3F-A857-482E-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.

6. Exit the registry editor.

7. Restart your computer.

8. Start Windows Explorer and delete:
%SystemDir%\toolbar.dll
Note: %SystemDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).

9. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.

10. In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.

11. Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.

Okay, let's try step by step:

1. Click on the "Start" and select "Run"

2. Type "regedit" and hit enter.

Okay, now you have succesfully run the registry editor. Now, let's look at step 2:

2. Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}', if it exists.

3. On your left hand side, click on the folder "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Good.

4. Now click on the "+" sign to expand the subfolders. Good.

5. Now click on the "+" sign next to the "SOFTWARE" folder.

6. Now click on the "+" sign next to the "CLASSES" folder.

7. 5. Now click on the "+" sign next to the "CLSID" folder. (It is a loooooong scroll down)

8. Locate folder with the name "{1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565}" and hit the delete key.

9. If that folder doesn't not exist, proceed to the next step.

10. Now, do the same to the other steps and see if it removes the hijacker.

ok, lets try this, I do nothing, seeing as how although it seems simple enough, when I follow your directions, I get to the classes, there is nothing by the name of CLSID there :/
scratch that, I found it, it is clear of that one, ok, now on to the next steps....maybe :/
