My brother's just given me Icewind Dale and Heart of Winter and keeps on urging me to play it. I'm not so sure though. Is it really so good?

I would tell you that I own a LOT of games and am well known for starting and not finishing things. Once I got through Character generation and the first "Chapter" it got considerably more interesting and is now consuming a very large portion of my time. I believe it is one of the few games that will hold my attention to the end. We'll see.

Just my 2-cents,

I'd say - definitely. The complex plot, the wide variety of characters and monsters, the role-playing aspect and the incredible detail give it a clear edge over lesser games such as Diablo II, IMHO.

Work out a party with a variety of characters and give it a try.

Best,

Subotai, thief and archer

Well, it's the only Black Isle Game I was able to get through all the way. (Haven't done so with BG2...I generally peter out somewhere in Chapter 3 in BG2, just from being so overwhelmed with everything at that point).

IWD was, IMO, a great game. I'm playing HoW right now, and enjoying it as well.

Cheers,

it's a really good game, that has a big Twist. It chews you up and then spits you out. It's a great game, and you get to learn more about the land of Fareun. Have fun. I'm playin HoW as well, and boy is it fun, almost done with it.
