Which of the three books are your favorite? I liked the Fellowship the most. Then it sorta went downhill from there. Somehow everytime I read any of Tolkeins book I get very sleeply all of a sudden. Anyone feeling like I am or is ti just me?

It's just you...

Seriously, I had a tough time with them when I was young, but as I get older I find that I can absorb the insane depth of the story better than as a teen. I further find that as I get older I've lost tolerance for some of the simpler stories that I enjoyed so much as a teen. (Comedians Weiss/Hickman, Uber boy Salvatore, etc...)

I enjoyed The Two Towers the most, with The Fellowship of the Ring in close second.

Oddly, I enjoyed Fellowship the least, with Return of the King coming top. Fellowship suffers srom draft-mixing process; you can tell it starts out as a happy trails adventure like the Hobbit, but then suddenly changes into a gigantic epic - and the changes jarred it a bit for me.

I like all of them, but the best would have to be Fellowshi, since with the other two books I sometimes get bored while reading Frodo's and Sam's endless trudging along.

Fellowship is kind of boring because no real battles are happening in the book. Sure you've got the chase in Moria, you got the attack on Weathertop but nothing on the scale of Helm's Deep of Pelennor Fields. I like big battles

The three books are really just a publishing ploy to get more money... it's really just a single book. Typically the end of a fantasy novel is the most exciting part (RotK chapters) and the beginning of a book has lots of background information and not as much action (FotR). Overall I have a hard time picking which of the three books I like the most, although if force it'd probably be TTT, lots of great chapters in that book.

Each book is equally awsome.

THe fellowship is absorbing as the journey begins. There is mystery, building of friendships, and new and mysterious destinations.....

The two towers we have the chase, and the building of the conflict as epic battles ensue.

The last book... all loose ends become resolved. And the denumont is fullfilling and doens't disappoint one bit...scouring of the shire anyone?

Even the appendecies are fun to read. I'm such a geek.
