How many pieces are there to the mask you need, I assume, to get into King Strohm's tomb. The walkthrough says they should assemble themselves once you have them all and I've got 5 but can't find any more. The one's I've got all came from the rooms around the tomb entrance area, I've killed Firkraag and also Samia, before she could summon her goons, but still no additional mask item ..... ????

Well...sort of. Personally I'd rather give them one of the Ioun stones; much better benefits.

The Ioun stones don't work for me. The game considers them as helmets so my mages and thieves cannot use them.

That sounds strange, some Ioun stones are class restricted perhaps that's problem. Doesn't sound very likely that the game would consider Ioun stones as helmets since some Ioun stones are actually mage-specific (Well, and that it isn't likely that some bug would cause the game to change all the Ioun stones in the game to not usable by mages and thieves)

Concerning Ioun Stones and Mages: They should be able to wear them, but the game lists them as helmets, so they are unequipable by mages. Baldurdash has a fix, as this is supposedly a confirmed bug.
I don't have the Baldurdash link handy, but I'm sure somebody can post it.

I know you have read in the other messages, that you need six pieces of the mask. All of then are guarded by Efereti, Djins of fire. Getting the mask togheter is worth a lot of xp by itself. As you have found 5 pieces, I bet i know where is the piece you didn´t find (it was the last that I found too):

Have you found a beholder caller the Director? Kill him and the next room after its will have 3 doors: the one at right will take to the rest of the maze; the one in front has the invisible guardian (the mask make him visible. after this he is easy prey) and the door to the left takes to another chamber where you have a Guardian Efereti and the last piece of the mask (I hope you didn´t find this one - the other pieces are fairly easy to find)
