A lot ISP's will allow you to have more than one mail box. Only give the address to people you want contact from. Use one of the other addresses for contacting web sites. The just let it fill up. In awhile the senders will get messages that there's no more room at the inn.

BTW some US states have laws preventing spam. The spammer can be fined $500 per event. Some guy in Washington state made $7000 suing.

Oh, well I thought that if I just let the Hotmail fill up, my account would be deleted eventually? So I've been studiously deleting, blocking, deleting, etc. etc all the spam mail. And Oh I WISH I could sue any of these people, but I can't say they are a "frequent" spammer, as I swear every message has a different e-mail addy.

Thanks for answering Arvon, OMG! You actually spoke and didn't tell a joke! Heh, yeah I know lame, but I think of all people you will forgive me.

Yep, thats why I ditched hotmail, and went onto a POP3 account using Outlook Express. It's so good and efficient. No spam, whatsoever.

Hotmail sucks ass compared to it, and I use my POP3 a/c on MSN via passport. It's all cool!

It's too bad WinNuke doesn't work on XP...you did know that the IP of the sender is usually logged, didn't you?

I mean to me it is just ridiculous the amounts of junk mail you get with Hotmail. And I have MSN on right now, so when I receive a new e-mail this box pops up informing me. Apparently I have just received an e-mail message from c2651p4563@4P4F.... (I'm not putting the entire thing in, who knows what it could be! *shudder*). With an addy like that, you KNOW something is up. Does anyone get these mails and think "oooo, lookie, I have a message from c2651p4563@4P4F...., I must read this important looking coded message!" Did you know that hair plugs are the latest rage? Cheap and better than toupes apparently. Are hair plugs powered by suction cups? or is it that horrid stapling thing I've seen on infomercials?

One trend I've been noticing lately is a rise on the number of messages from "single girls" who just happen to have a website with pics...I don't know if this is just a new way of searching for a mate or a doorway to a porn site...(never looked, just deleted)

Well, you haven't lived until someone named Candy tells you she's got live camera action of her bosom... or someone named Lola offers to do unspeakable things to you ....but still it's a mystery to me how any of us can do without the wonders of the miracle pills and cheap loans! Why only this morning I 'won two free tickets to anywhere'!

You should check out the plugs, I bet they use KrazyGlue!

I have been using my hotmail account for years and I don't get ANY spam at all.

When you register, you need to make sure you uncheck the little box giving them right to send you "interesting offers".

Then, turn on the spam protection option, and when some spam manage to still get in your inbox, simply block it, and when they ask you if you want to ban that particular adress only or the whole email server, block the server. That's it, no more spam coming from @greatoffers.com, for example.

I can't be bothered using Hotmail for anything but a spam-trap. Whenever I'm required to provide an email address to an untrusted website, I give them a hotmail account all of my serious mail goes to my POP3 account at my ISP.
