What is your list of 'must-play' games. I'm trying to fill the gap between some awaited new releases by going back and trying some classic stuff. Suggestions?

What Lothar said. But I'd add Red Alert 2, Homeworld, and SystemShock2.

There are many classics to be played, good to hear you're going back a bit.
My reccomendations may be a bit older than most others, which well, should almost be a pre-requisite for the classic tag! I'll stick to RPG's. A few classics which I've found very inspiring over the years: Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar Ultima VII: The Black Gate Ultima Underworlds 1 & 2 Curse of the Azure Bonds (Yep, that 'old SSI RPG engine!) Bard's Tale III: The Thief of Fate Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday Buck Rogers: The Matrix Cubed Eye of the Beholder I and II Lands of Lore Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession

Okay I don't even want to think too long on what my avatar has turned into...
Anyways, keep the suggestions coming. I have played many that have been mentioned above. Anything D&D I've played also. Is starcraft Sci-fi? Alot of people seem to recommend this game, what's so good about it? Never played half-life either..isn't that a first person shooter (groan)? I don't really like FPS's with the exception of the Thief series which IMHO was a first person sneaker . [ 10-19-2003, 01:40 PM: Message edited by: SpiritWarrior ]
