Hi Folks,

I won the game.........did all the stuff at severed hand to weaken those brother and sister.

Party is about regular 16-17th level

1 16 th Paladin
1 8 level fighter / 8th Barbarian
1 8 level fighter / 9th wizard
1 16th level rogue
1 17 level CLERIC (battleguard tempus)
1 16 level Wizard

The first battle (the one heavy on summons) were tought , My Barbarian died and had to be ressurected. My pure wizard survived the whole battle (I did not expect that). I mostly used area speels to kill the summons while my mage were unnafected by the harm by his protections.......Some summons from my side helped on the killing but the real damage were done by the Barbariab dualing two bastard sword of heroism. The PALADIN were using the Holy avenger.
The thief were throwing arrows + 5 and potions of explosions....The fighter mage were attacking and sending spells to help other party members.

The enemies fled to regain energy on the pools and We had to take care of the summons left by them.

Tried to rest and could not......so healed the party and went to fight again......After the dialog the fight began and after a couple of hits they started to die in pain from the worst job they did on the severed hand.......

I would prefer to kill them on my hands !!!
This las part were easy.........too easy ......

Another question......Is the Holy avenger the best sword in the game for the paladin ? (he has also proficient with halberd and there are some good ones in the game)

any hint or opinion is appreciated
Ed

Isair and Madae are ridiculously vulnerable to Horrid Wilting, as well... I was casting Horrid Wiltings mostly to get rid of all the goons and summons to make the battlefield a bit "cleaner", but it took only three Horrid Wiltings IIRC before Isair and Madae were already hurt enough to retreat. And I only needed one (!) Horrid Wilting after that to trigger the ending sequence with Orrick the Grey.

Good work, Axl!

It's so interesting that so many people have seemed to think that the final battle was unbeatable. IIRC, it only took me 3 tries to beat them.

First time, I got sucked into the battle by surprise, so I was completely unbuffed. Still, I decided to fight the battle for the heck of it. I did OK for a while, but eventually fell while still in the first part of the battle.

Second time, I was fully prepared, but somehow ended up getting swamped by summoned monsters, I think that in my first time thru that perhaps one of the monks may have taken out the summoner. Anyways, I was having a grand old time wiping out the summons, particularly by using my own summons. However, eventually, my party succumbed to the overwhelming numbers of summons.

Third time was the charm. I completely ignored Isair and Madea and concentrated on taking out their allies. IIRC, I didn't find the summoner this time either, but I think that a monk or one of my summons must have taken him out since there weren't very many enemy summoned monsters. Regardless, after wiping out their allies, I concentrated on the Isair. After taking the required amount of a$$-whupping, the twins retreated. etc., etc., etc. You know the rest.

This CAN be a very tough battle. This battle is all about finding a good combination of tactics. There's no one "right" way to win. But I do think that there are a small number of "right" ways and certainly a number of really good tactics.

1. Tactical retreat:
At the very start of the battle, move your mage and cleric as far away from the twins as possible towards the bottom of the screen. Why? TO avoid betting hit by the Blasphemy spell. While the rest of you party is paralyzed, your mage and cleric can be summoning monster allies or casting whatever other magics you feel are necessary. This tactic is EXCELLENT!

2. Protection from Magic scrolls
This is a bit of a cheesey tactic, but effective. Don't use it immediately, however. Take out the twins allies first. Then have your tanks keep the twins occupied. Then send in character with a Prot from Magic scroll and cast it on one of the twins. Protection from Magic == no magical protections == seriously vulnerable enemy!!!

3. Ignore the twins initially:
This is just plain smart. The twins are incredibly well buffed and almost impossible to damage. Taking out their allies is more effective and can be done fairly quickly.

I so hated when Isair kept using the Black Blade of Disaster on my party. He killed a few of my character with it.

The challenge for me was not to beat them, it was to do it without losing a character.
