ok - i think i know about dual-wielding (you get your 'normal' number of attacks with the main-hand weapon and one extra with the off-hand weapon - if your off-hand weapon grants an extra attack that get's applied to the main-hand weapon - the different weapons can have different effeects)
i think i know about (greater) whirlwind (you get 10 attacks per round) my question is: if you activate whirlwind while dual-wielding - which weapon hits how many times? never seen this discussed . . . thanks [ 12-20-2004, 12:17 PM: Message edited by: Armen ] |

I believe it sets the number of attacks for your primary hand to 10, but you still get the regular number of attacks from your off hand.

No... You get just ten attacks per round. When I played a dual-wielding Kensai (Named Uma, who used katanas and always wore yellow...) I would even have her unequip her offhand weapon during WW and GWW to improve her THAC0.

I agree, this is a ToB topic. But since I can't move it and I can answer the question:
Given: A character with 2 attacks per round in their on-hand weapon (let's say it's Cutthroat), holding Kundane in their offhand. A normal round: Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Kundane. (4) Under Haste: Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Kundane. (5) Under Improved Haste: Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Kundane, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Kundane. (8) Under Whirlwind: Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Kundane, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Cutthroat, Kundane. (10) Unequipping Kundane prior to Whirlwinding would result in 10 attacks with Cutthroat alone, and result in more Critical Hits if the person has points in Single Weapon Style.

May as well use a shield then activate the whirlwind.

^ No. The point of going to a single weapon is to activate usage of the Single Weapon Style's improved critical rolls.

I'm beginning to think that dual weilding isn't as good as advertised (unless you've got Crom Faeyr in that offhand! ).
Does "Single Weapon" style really improve criticals? I thought only "Two Handed Weapon" style did that, and "Single Weapon" style only gave you an AC bonus.
