Due to the increasing popularity of these players, out of curiosity, do you own one?

And if so,

Did you purchase it yourself? Why?

What model? Why?

I find mine very, very useful so I was wondering about your opinions.

No, I don't own one anymore.

I might buy one, though. Useful to have on the train to uni. It's not like you can study with all the cackle onboard anyway.

I've bough myself a Sony D-NE511 mp3 discman just a abou 15 months ago. It rocks. Being with music where ever I want to be is a great ability. It's size doesn't begin to offset it's abilities, especially that being a CD player, I can swap CDs wherever I am, as opposed to mp3 player's limited memory. BUt an iPod is still the best of the best, especially the new beast of the gizmo with 40GB..

I got an iPod for Christmas in the states, $300 from the Apple shop in Millenia Mall (I think that was the name), Florida.

We got a travel kit with it so we can charge it back in good ol' England.

It's 20gb, but so far I've put 130 songs on it. I could put all the songs on my PC on it (over 2000) but what is the point when I won't listen to them, and have to look through them all for my favourites?

I'm currently lending all my mates CD's and putting them on my PC

The new iPod look so cool, colour screen, can store and playback pictures, so cool...

A lot of people in my school got MP3 Players for Christmas, so everyone is doing the old "up the sleeve and into the ear" trick in lessons

I have a cheap model, Innosys it's called, only 128 mb, I got it because it was cheap and 128 mb is enough for how much music I need to listen, I only have to use it when travelling on a bus and I occsionally take it to work when I know I can use it.
Of course I bought it myself...

I own a portable cd player, two actually. My first one stopped working (had it for four years) and I recently got a new one for Christmas from a friend. I like it better then my old one.

I own a portable cd player. I forgot the model. It's from Sony. I seldom use it so my sister always use it to listen to her songs.

Ivellis: I guess it depends on the usage. You have a point, but that's the purpose of the iPod having a large memory. Whatever tickles your fancy you have it at the palm of your hand.

I own an iPod 40GB player. I suppose I rode the bandwagon because everyone suddenly has one. I use it not just for music but for backup and I put movies in it just for kicks. Still have to try to plug it in another PC to see if I can transfer the movies...

So far I am very happy because one of my concerns is if I will be able to use the iPod to its fullest extent due to the fact that it's expensive. So far I have 1000+ songs (I consider myself having an iPod legit because 1000+ songs an iPod mini can't handle anymore), I use it in the car, school, whatever basically. Since I live far from school, I have an hour to burn every trip back and forth so I just plug in my iPod.

I have a Philips discman and it's not that bad now but it has been to the repair 3 times already within the warranty time. Then it didn't work for some time but because the warranty was outdated then I'd just decided to start hitting it. Now it works OK again

Well I bought a 64mb mp3 player when they were first out. I remember feeling like a God because noone else had one. Then I upgraded to a 40gb Creative Zen Xtra which I bought from ebay for a bargain of £180 (it was worth £300 at the time)

That one got smashed (not my fault) by some pisshead, so I had to claim insurance. I ended up receiving a brand new 60gb Creative Nomad Zen, and £150. (Kind people )

I have about 30gbs of music, although I also find my mp3 player comes in handy for transferring games etc. to friends computers, so I use it as a portable storage drive too.

I bought them all myself, and I bought them because I was fed up of having a big CD player to carry about, and I wanted to stay ahead of the game.
