Question Mark

During the war, EPA coolected the largest environmental fine ever, a $34 million civil penalty for oil spills by the Colonial Pipeline Company. If I run across a longer link, I'll post it.

[edit] I'll also note that jail sentences are getting used more for environmental violations. This usually happens if you outright lie (intentionally) on an emission report to hide noncompliance. Christy Todd-Whitty is certainly using some of the environmental regs oft-unused teeth.

From their homepage:

Based in Atlanta, Colonial provides a vital service to communities and businesses throughout Eastern United States as we transport refined petroleum products. Colonial delivers a daily average of 95 million gallons of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, aviation and military fuels.

This is excellant news, *except the original damage * I wish our EPA would use its powers to pull buisness into line. Instead of issueing press releases as a shame punishment. This does not work because they hardely reach the press and if they do publish everyone has forgotten in a weeks time.
