Y'know, I waited and didn't attack him right away, I then positioned Minsc and Anomen behind him, my mages in front, then summoned 3 Mordenkainen's Swords, positioned them close to him, had Minsc challenge him, my mages then bombarded him with Lower MR and offensive spells, while my swords and fighters chopped him up, Jaheira cast one of those spellfoiling insect swarm spells on him, he was dead in a minute.

Well,
Firkraag for some reason doens't follow you. So first you kill his sidekick (lure him away) and then you take a couple of wizzards (but just staying out of sigth of firkraag) and put 6 or more cloudkill near him as rapid as possible. Then wait a little an start destracting him by walking an hasted person up and down, this way he won't heal himself completley when he is almost down. Then grab the loot. Good luck |

Sorry, you meant the red dragon. You can try the same tactic although it will be somewhat trickier because the dragon will come after you.
