Well, how should i put this...
which is better, starting as an assassin and dual to fighter at approx lvl 14 OR starting as a berserker and dual to a thief at lvl 14? also: what about leaving the dual to later (about 16 - 18) and then wait for ToB to come out and revel in the Xp cap? ------------------ Yes indeed... |

Hmm, I would start out with fighter vlass, due to the more HP´s you gain. After level ten this is just adding a few for each level so a 10th lvl fighter is good to have. Also you can always wonder about playing a multiclass character like fighter/thief. Trade off is the grabd mastery and higher points and you can´t choose subclasses.
To dual at tenth or twelth level seems to be a good choice, you wont like to stumble upon baddies as a level 2:thief... I took the assasin to lvl 8 and dueled to fighter after that. Better weapon profiencies and a high stealth and you can still use thief boosting magic items and potions after awhile. Try some combinations out and see what they come out as... ------------------ WOLF WINS EVERY FIGHT BUT ONE, AND IN THAT ONE, HE DIES |

Depends, i personally like the assasins ability to coat his weapon with poison. Good mage killer. But going fighter first and then thief is also good. usually Kai to thief is the best combo. killer backstab.
------------------ That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. |

Try a Swashbuckler immediately dualed to a fighter. Reasonable thief abilities, excellent armor class bonuses (even usable with the fighter's heavy armor!), plus he can have 5 stars in a weapon and 3 stars in dual wielding by the time he reaches 9th level. If you don't mind the "cheesy" technique of creating the character with the difficulty set to easy, then the hit points will be pretty good, too.

When you get the start up screen for BG2, click on "configure", then move the slider that controls the game difficulty to its lowest setting, then create your character. This will result in the character being given maximum hit points. Then you can save the game, quit, and reconfigure the difficulty to whatever difficulty setting you want.
