Our gaming group disbanded in the late 80's due to real life taking over our spare time. We played First Edition, and I still have all of the old books. 2nd Edition was just coming out, when the group disbanded, so I have a few 2nd Ed. books. The good news is that we are getting a PnP DnD campaign started again. It will be 2nd ed, and may evolve into 3rd ed. I am involved with an on-line, 3rd ed game, so I also have the 3rd ed. PHB.

It's too bad you live all the way up there in Canada, I've been looking for some people to play with. My "party" fell apart in less than a month, so I really don't have a PnP history, but I sure do enjoy it!!

second edition only, I dislike th vast majority of the new rules and I actually understand THAC0, as opposed to the new system.

"whacky"? Rules never made much sense in second edition, there was always too much opportunity for the players to have endless (and fruitless ) discussions about the rules with the DM, because the rulebooks weren't completely waterproof about everything. You've gotta admit that 3rd edition is a lot more waterproof than 2nd edition was, a lot more clearer and a lot more straightforward as well; and a lot easier to understand for newbies to the game. But some people just don't like changes. And if the system works out for your D&D-group, why change?
