Since you mentioned Prince of Thieves...
Morgan Freeman's character was inspired by the character Nasir in the series I mentioned. It was the best... Sigh...

Yup and wasn't he dual-wielding scimitars? I remember him to be my favorite member of the group

Okay, am I getting mixed up with a different one, or is this that old series with the two stupid guards, a clumsy Robin, and Maid Marion the adventurous one??

Yeah, Nasir did dual-wield. He was awesome. The best fighter they had. (At least until series 3, when they had Jason (I don't deserve to be Sean's son) Connery come in and beat each of the merry men individually.
Nasir should have kicked his butt.

NO! Absolutely not. This was pure class, very atmospheric.

Ok, I'm getting confused now.
I remember definitely watching all of the following:

Almost all of the robin hood films
Robin of Sherwood
Plus the one I was just on about above.

So I have seen Robin of sherwood, but I forget which one it is... can anyone help refresh my memory?

In this version, Robin had a mentally challenged brother named Much. Will Scarlett was awesome...
Robin was chosen by the pagan deity Herne to fight the Norman oppressors and also keep the old faith alive.

Haunting music by Clannad, Marian had long red hair, Michael Praed and Jason Connery as Robin, Herne the Hunter used to crop up every so often fully decked out in antlers and a booming voice, Guy of Gisburn was slimy as hell, and most of the scenery involved beautiful landscape and red sunsets.

Ah, I think I remember now, it's just I haven't seen as much of that series as any of the others because it started a bit before I was born, I've probably only seen repeats.
