Hullo.

Quick question: If one does not have a gadgeteer in one's party, is it safe to simply sell all of the gadgets one finds? Or should I be saving them for something along the road, like perhaps a gadgeteer character you can recruit? Please try to keep your answers as spoiler-less as possible.

mild spoiler

There is a Gadgeteer NPC in Trynton named Madras who will join you. He starts around Lvl 8 i believe, so if you want him, hang on to those gadgets...

Alright, thanks. He's probably more worth taking along than Myles. I already have a Ninja who can handle locks, traps, and all that fun stuff...

Myles is, at least in my party, worth 10x in combat to what Madras was. I already have a bard and a bishop and alchemist to neutralize the mobs as they close in, so Madras was nothing to me. I enjoy Myles' 40+ hits with his thieves dagger over the 4 to 5 dmg from Madras.

I dumped Madras after about 2 levels with him and he didn't improve his worth in my party.

Of course, if you have a Gadgeteer, you must be sure they use good ammunition in their guns. Impaling stones are the best until you finally reach Ferro in the Rapax castle and can stock up on either medusa stones or lightning bolts or maybe mystic arrows.

And there are some very nice items Gadgeteers can make late in the game, too. Love that NegatAir (asphyxiation).

last post isn't true. as your gadgeteer levels so will his gun, allowing you to use other ammo and other good effects.

gun wont level 1-1 with the gadgeteer but it does become a better weapon in the game.

Like LordOgre, I kept Madras for only a few levels. Already had a gadgeteer. But I have so many gadgets now (he's over level 20), I wonder if a second gadgeteer could be even more useful later on? Another thing: when you pick up Madras you are told by the Mook he's supposed to "observe" something. Would that be Jan'ette's wrecked ship in Bayjin? I had already explored it by then, but I wonder if I missed something. Another gadget?
