Had to re-read it to see the "parody" comment. I dunno, maybe I am a stick in the mud, but I just can't derive humour from such jokes. SARS has been... relatively contained due to speedy emergency measures.

The evil side in me wishes to see all these measures lifted and just let the disease run rampant so that I can just point fingers and yell, "Is this what you want? Well, you got it."

I am not that psychotic however... and I would never want to intentionally cause illness upon anyone. It's just... hard for me to see those in non-affected( or lesser-affected) countries make light of it( not that I am having a grudge against any of them).

I think for me this was poking fun not at WHO's travel advisories and steps to prevent the spread as it is at the complete panic that some people here (the U.S) seem to be in about SARS. I think, at least to me, the comment was how these people are blowing it out of proportion, not that WHO is.

Well, I do roll my eyes when people over-react too, but I am talking about those in my region( I would not know about the general reaction to SARS elsewhere).

On a side note, I find it a tad... disgusting that they are making a TV Series about the first SARS Index Case( the first carrier) in my country. The advertising reeks of exploitation, but this is merely my opinion. I will wait until it airs before I give it further comment.

What riles me though, are the comparisons between SARS and other infectious diseases. Hence my previous post. The comparison is simply not valid due to the hugely different set of circumstances under which SARS has happened.

I agree that some people do tend to over-react, but to belittle SARS is to be complacent about it.
