For those of us that use Spybot and Adaware to keep our computers free from the flotsam and jetsam of the internet might want to check on when the last update of the programme took place. If you have a version of Spybot and Adaware that was originally downloaded over 6 months ago, those companies are no longer offering updates. You have to delete your old programme (they both have uninstallers) and download a fresh version. Both new versions have better features and are about 5 times faster than before.
So do yourselves a favour and replace your Spybot and Adaware now

Out of curiosity does that include the free versions or the ones you pay for?

Yes it does mean the free versions need to be replaced, The new versions will be updated weekly, the older versions no longer has any support. [ 05-24-2004, 11:00 PM: Message edited by: wellard ]

Since links can be handy ( ),
Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoft.de/ Spybot SD: http://security.kolla.de People who use these might also be interested in JavaCool Spyware Blaster ( http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html ), and JavaCool Spyware Guard ( http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html ), and possibly SpySweeper ( www.spysweeper.org ). I personally have Spyware Blaster's protections on full, Spyware Guard running constantly (full protections), Spybot's Immunize set to full (including constantly running services), and I run Spybot and Ad-Aware most days with Spysweeper scheduled to run once a week. It's a powerful combination, but unfortunately Spysweeper can't be updated without subscribing (which I don't have enough money to do). |

BUMP
I do this to remind everyone to totally delete there old Spybot and Adaware programmes and to download fresh ones. Your old programmes are not being updated..... Only the new versions are being updated, and they are a LOT faster

FWIW, I installed the latest Spybot version over the top of my existing version, and it upgraded just fine. I didn't have to remove the previous one.
