I recently migrated from ICQ after... hmmm 7 years of use, I was forced to because most of my contacts had stopped using it, I was clinging on but it just got boring, having 30 people on your list and not one online... anyway... I really hate msn, it has some nice feature, like the handdrawing, which I love... the file sharing is also much safer it seems than in ICQ and the avatars are fun... although the smilies are pretty awful (like in icq). but why can't you send offline messages like in Icq... or at least a message when the other is away... and the worst is, when I log in I have to type in my infernal password about 10 time until it finally makes an attempt to connect... really annoying.

What's the problem ? A chat is a chat, right ?
And if it would really suck, i'd have a sexual relationship with it now, which is not the case, so it can't be that bad.

I'm using both*. MSN for the mass conversation and ICQ for the offline message leaving.
*This may require some clarification. Though technically speaking I do use both, I have a tendency to forget about them entirely. Little things like 'signing in' and 'typing Hello' are often unfairly neglected. One might say I 'used' both, past tense, but I have not yet officially given up on them. Why, it's only a few months ago that I last 'signed in' on MSN. |

I mostly use MSN Messenger for the same reason, everyone else I know mostly uses it. I've been using it for so long the look of it is also comfortable to me I guess, and I like the new avatar feature. I also though like Yahoo because that is the only one wherein you can voice chat with more than two people, and their animated backgrounds in the text boxes are fun. And I think Yahoo also has a feature wherein you can send an offline message.

I used MSN for a long time, and was very happy with it...then I tried AIM and was sorely disapointed at the awkward, clumsy feel. I got much the same vibe from GAIM, so I now use Trillian.
Really, though, it's all a matter of opinion. Try everything!
