hmmmmm why do I get the feeling you guys are off adventuring without your StormQueen? Hey, watch what you do with my girl, no tanking her, turbovee...if I have to do multiple healing potions when next we meet, you'll know where my name came from! (LOL)

Cloudbringer, a hardware modem, ie not a winmodem, only costs £35 over here, so it should be no more than $40 in the US. They are far quicker as they do not rely on the processor at all, hence you can be doing other things at the same time and use slower machines, without too much of a loss in speed. I have an early rise tomorrow, so I'm logging off for the night. Goodnight all and enjoy your game.

I just read your thread requesting me not to tank your character after I ended our game. My storm queen is too precious. LOL

Stealth:
Thanks. A friend of mine (former boss, great guy, hardware nut) told me same thing today. I may try it. He offered to see if he could find one- but he lives in another state and commutes (to my office) twice weekly so it's not convenient. I hate to go to Gateway, but I may have to. My machine isn't that slow...it's a PIII 500, 20g hd, 128mb ram, ultra ATA66 controller with Sound Blaster live! and 16mb 3dfxVoodo video card,, digital spkrs/subwoofer. I always thought it was slow online, now I guess I know why- the 56k winmodem...sigh Will look into the external modem option, not sure about ports... I am woefully un-savvy hardware-wise. Cloudbringer, majorly frustrated with the lag |

Haven't heard from turbovee, Charlie - so I don't know if we're on for tonight. You must be propping those eyes open with toothpicks by now !
I'm contemplating a new modem. Will try to talk with Gateway this wknd- did talk to my friend at the office, he's priced things for me, but I just don't feel comfy opening up my cpu alone. So I may have to take it to the Gateway store. Don't know how long that takes and wil l be bereft if they have to keep my computer even a day! Cloudbringer |
