You're not boring Jorath, but if that's the best movie you've seen in a decade... you need to get out more!

No offense, but he's right. ROTS is superior IMO.

Seems like you've got a new obsession going on, Sir D? After every possible vs. fight you've gone to Revenge of the Sith overnight

Should anyone be interested I reviewed this for a socialist paper I occasionally write for. It's available here:

I know this is a long, long, time after the film coming out in America. But its only been out here for a few weeks. You can add comments on the website should you wish.

Yeah, I saw it a while ago. People started calling me wierd afterwards just because I liked (now why would they do that?).

What I love about this movie, is that the list of things it has that every good movie needs:

Unique
Funny (part with the midget)
Midgets
Explosions
Bloody
Killing (duh)
Hookers
Samurais/Katanas (I remember someone looking in awe when I described one scene that contained the "Katana wielding Japanese Samurai Hooker", something that you can't say about any other movies)
And even a bit of comedy.

It came out about a month ago here, maybe earlier but I was busy and didn’t make it till this week. Anyway, the first week it was released, two people were having the argument about whether it was good or not outside a cinema after having seen it, and it turned into a fight… which ended in the person who was saying it was rubbish getting the end of his nose bitten off.
At first I was pretty startled by that, but having see the film, the guy that bit it off did the right thing.

Luvian; not all movies shouldn't be written for idiots, there are comedies and such out there for that kind of thing. If some people in the cinema didn't follow the storyline it's their problem .

Thoran; what movie was better this decade?

Sir Degrader; no. I’ll admit I did see it twice, but still no.

As I said, I only just saw the film recently and wow!!
It was all the best bits of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, it reminded me of Max Payne the computer game in parts, of Fight Club of so many good movies. So many films, all building to this, I am seriously doubtful that this movie will be topped any time soon.
It was so near perfect, I loved every minute, every frame, each a masterpiece, just amazing.
I’m seeing it again tomorrow.

Saw this just a few days ago, and it was pretty good. Not anywhere near my top favorite movies, but entertaining altogether.

I thought the violence was well masked by the comical view of the movie, but all in all there were some pretty gruesome scenes. The 'pez dispenser' was open to imagination, but I thought the scenes in the car with Benedicio del Toro and Clive Owen were pretty high on the "eeeeww" factor (close to being hilarious though).

The three stories were a bit hard to follow due to the entangling storylines, but I admit I was not paying too much attention to it all, so maybe it was just me.

Over the last decade there's been hundreds of better movies... but for the sake of brevity I'll look at the dvd's I've got on the local drive of this machine waiting to get copied to my server.

A Man Apart - S.C. was a LOT better
Aviator - A LOT better than S.C.
Blade Trinity - S.C. was better
Constantine - S.C. was a bit better
Darkest Knight - S.C. was INFINITELY better (damn that movie sucked)
Finding Nemo - A LOT better than S.C.
Luther - Better than S.C.
National Treasure - About as good
Pirates of the Carribian - A LOT better than S.C.
Primer - About as good
Suspect Zero - About as good
White Noise - About as good

Basically I thought S.C. was an OK movie, not bad, not great. It had some very cool things about it... but they were offset by some major weaknesses. I put it in the same category as movies that were too flawed to consider great but entertaining enough to put themselves ahead of the majority of crapola that Hollywood puts out. In other words - solidly Mediocre - which is well above average for Hollywood these days.
