MSN messenger is by far the best, especially version 6
Also if you have messenger i reccomend www.mess.be it has some good patches (like getting rid of that ad at the bottom of the contact list etc) among other things.

Depends what you mean by "best". If you mean best at being fluffy and annoying with "helfpful and fun" features, then sure it's best. If you mean it's best at accessing MSN then yeah. But if you want ONE program that accesses MSN, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo Messenger and IRC servers as well then Trillian is the best and I don't know why anyone says it costs money since I've been using a free, albeit lesser version for over a year.

I use d it before trillian and since trilian doesn't recognise the channel I want to go to I use it again.

There's a free version that works great.

I use AIM because I have AOL *sigh* but thats ok, because I got the account The Lady Blue before anyone else

I like MSN though. Yahoo has the most horrible smilies...ugh. I used ICQ for awhile but I don't remember what it was like...obviously it wasn't great since I got rid of it.

MSN, for its' simplicity.

I tried ICQ, and found it to be too unuserfriendly.
Couldn't agree more. Someone give this man a medal!
