Just a positive note...

I realize there's been a few "hot" topics around the board lately. This happens from time to time. The fact that everyone has policed themselves so well and not fallen into an all-out flame war is terrific.

I just wanted to give a huge thumbs-up to you guys and let you know how proud I am to be a member of the best set of forums on the Internet, IMO. No one here needs be discouraged or depressed. You guys are the greatest!

Thanks for making IW so special!

Thanks Saz!

I am really for that 'serious discussion' forum that Memnoch mentioned. Would keep a lot of spam out of some of these threads that are trying to be serious!

And I would like to applaud you Mods too! You do a great job of policing us and allowing us to carrying on without too much intervention! I think just know you guys are out there has kept us in line

I just have to say here that though I don't post much, it's always a pleasure to drop into IW.

Be it to get some help with a game, have an in-depth conversation or just chill out this is without doubt one of the finest places to be on the net and I for one will keep coming back.

True, emotions run high sometimes, but we're only human after all.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Sazerac.

Thank you Saz! I agree with you Moridin. I have been very careful in phrasing my posts so as not to offend anybody, I am glad that the others here have also been considerate of our feelings.

We try to stay out of policing threads as much as we can because we trust you guys to do the right thing. Hell, we did it for so long without an official mod on the old blue board, why change things now? Mutual trust and respect is the way to go.

Thanks Saz!

You know I don't often get into the politics threads but I do follow others and throw in my opinions now and again. I think it's wonderful that we CAN talk to each other about so many things and see opposite points of view. I don't always agree with everyone, but I DO respect them as individuals who are entititled to discuss their views without being flamed.

Cloudy, feelin all warm and fuzzy today!

HEY everyone! It's FRIDAY in this part of the world.... and some of you will soon have SAT going already! whoohoo!

It's 4.45 and it's time to leave work and go to the pub. I'm just hanging on because Ziroc is posting about the rocks thing.

Been a bit of a downer on the board today - I think we should have another American bashing thread - that'll liven things up a bit

NOT REALLY

Yes, a separate forum for heavy issues is a good idea, perhaps with a warning of "Here Be Dragons" at the entrance

It is the very nature of such discussions that there can be a lot of passion involved. That should not come as a surprise to anyone. These are serious matters, with tremendous implications for our lives and the world we live on.

People should not even enter such discussions unless they understand that we are talking ideas here, with room allowed for vigorous discussion. This is not to say that attacks should be personal or laced with unnecessary profanity, but people should accept that these are weighty matters about which emotions can run high. If not, they should just stay away from such discussions -- If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

A separate forum would make this more clear, imo, rather than the current situation of having people walk in accidentally to a thread here in General Discussions and end up feeling ambushed by the content.

HAHAHA.. well (in her best southern accent) "you can just kiiiiss mah grits, buddy!"

No, this is normal for us and I'm not sorry to see it cycle through again and yes, a forum for the REALLY controversial stuff is a good idea...I'd still like to see ordinary discussions of life, gardening, pub crawls here in GD, but yes, politics and such should be in a safety zone where folk can take part or ignore as they see fit.

Hi Dio! We're just waiting to see what Z decides when the new upgrades are in place!
