That is why they created TotLM as a free download. I would say it doubles the length of time to complete HoW. Personally I enjoyed HoW despite it being a little short.

Download TotLM here: http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/iwd/info/luremaster/

Perhaps try a friend with cable or ADSL with a cd burner. I'm not sure if they also sell it on cd for people with 56k modems, but I think I heard something about it being done

iwd is altogether a really short game. i love it, and i like playing it, but i prefer bg 2 much better plus, the bg 2 expansion, ToB, is long too. maybe if you havent tryed those yet, give it a try.

I personally enjoy Icewind Dale and HoW. I mean in HoW you faced enemies you had not faced before. I enjoyed discovering battle tactics to use against them.

I must concur with the view point that HoW is too short...

I started IWD again with HoW as a brief distraction from the RPG masterpiece that is Ultima VII...and it seems I've been justified in seeing it as purely that. Heart of Winter started out very promisingly with the events going on in Lonelywood and the atmospherics of the Burial Isle...yet everything subsequent to this, gloomfrost and even the stuff on the wyrm island feels incredibliy tacked on. Remorhaz and Ice golem overkill, linear paths, too few role playing encounters.

I spent barely a week on HoW and have a very hollow feeling indeed, despite the final battle being quite tactically complex. I wonder if there'll be any differences in finishing HoW before IWD itself as I've done?

Now that its all over, I think I'll either restart Baldur's Gate for the third time (first time - dwarf fighter, second time - elven bard...) I'm considering trying a druid and taking on the quests of Edwin and Viconia, as I'd never done that previously. There's also the world of Britannia to return to, which I hear calling me even now....

Once again, pity about HoW!
Is Icewind Dale II better in the Role Playing department?
I'm not going to buy it unless I'm sure i won't be disappointed.

P.S: Knowing the bite of the bio-infinity engine, I'll probably end up getting a mate to nab ToTLM for me!
