I have played both yet would like to see others ideas on the topic.

Elves can wear better gear use more weapons

Fairies get better magic regen.

The thing I have found with Elves is tho even tho they have better item selection because of a low strength they max that out quick and really can't wear all the heavy stuff and use a sling with a decent amount of stones.

I would like to use the better gear yet am hampered by strength on the elves, where as the faeries tend to get knocked into next week due to their low AC when in combat because they can't wear the good gear.

I got tired of faerie bishop armor problems and have gone with elves for some time now. You do need to work on the strength with Elves, but overall I consider them preferable to faeries.

How about a Mook Bishop?

They have... that kind of 'look'.

Fearie Bishops are good if you can protect them with your other team mates. I personnaly play an Elfs and I'm happy with him. The Feary gets a +2 bonus in overall armor that's a good point. The bishop has a relatice limited set of items he can wear any way.

Dyntheos & company;

I have only played one team through the game, and that includes a Faerie Bishop. On the whole I have been very pleased with her. At first the lack of armor was definetly a problem! But about halfway through the game, she has gotten quite a good collection that protects her almost as well as the big people. Things like

Brilliant Helm (+6, Intelligence +20),
Templar initiation Helm (+7, Mythology +10, Vitality +10) and
Spike Boots (+5)

are wearable by any race and class, so take advantage of it. (Faeries wear boots...hehe )

I also have her wearing the Zynaryx plate that Antone made "for the little ones" which is armor +6, and the doll armor pants (+5) and gloves (+3) found in the Rapax Prince's Playroom. Adding in a

Cloak of Many Colors (AC +3, 10% to all realms) and an
Amulet of Healing (Ac +3, HP regenration +1, 50% to divine)

and you have a pretty well armored little faerie! Mine has an average AC of 19, which is the same as my Rawulf Bishop.

Of course, it never hurts to cast Gaurdian Angel, which I did almost every battle during my first ten or fifteen levels.

I think the game contains quite enough armor to really bulk up one faerie, I'm not sure about two. How they compare to an elfin bishop, however, is outside my area of expertise.

My first time through the game I ran both an elf and a faerie bishop with each specializing in two schools of magic. I never got the Zynaryx plate but did put the faerie in the Robes of Canezou and between that and Armorplate, she had a 20 AC by late game while my elf had a 24. Once I'd maxed out Int/Pie on both, I started putting 2 pts into Str each level-up for each of them. Since I rarely had them doing anything but magic it wasn't like they had to carry large amounts of ammo so the weight of their armor was my only real concern.

At the end of the game, my faerie had two deaths and my elf had nine. The main difference seemed to be in their magic resistances - she had higher than he did due to race. She also had more kills than him by over 1000 but the primary difference there was that I had her specialize in Wiz/Div and him in Alc/Psi so she was more damage-focused while he was doing more incapacitating. Plus of course he didn't get kill credits for monsters killed by Quicksand.

If you are only going to run one bishop, I'd go with a faerie. If you want to run two, I'd go faerie and elf because you won't find enough armor to equip two faeries and the elf is the next best race for bishop.

Plus if you want to overcome his initial deficiencies, create the elf as a Lord or Ranger to kick up the Str/Vit and switch him over to Bishop at level 3 (or thereabouts) which gives you better armor to begin, overcomes the inital downside of str/vit and the only thing you lose is a couple of spellpicks (most of which should be saved anyway since you can buy every spell up to 6th level but the 7th levels have to be chosen as spell-picks).
