I just got sent this, and I thought I would let others see.Although I don't usually like much poetry,I like this one,as I agree with the poet in thinking racial discrimination is disgusting.

WHO IS COLOURED?

When I was born
I was black,
When I grew up
I was black,
When I get hot
I am black,
When I get sick,
I am black,
When I die,
I am black.

When you are born,
you are pink,
When you grow up
you are white,
When you get hot
you go red,
When you get cold
you go blue,
When you get sick
you go purple,
When you die
you go green.

BUT YOU HAVE THE CHEEK TO CALL ME COLOURED

I like it!
Racial discrimination IS disgusting. It's disgusting because it places one colour as superior to another, which is rot. Colonials used to honestly believe that just being white placed a white beggar above a black king - can you believe it?!

The Racial discrimination can also be to do with religion or nationality.

They don't bother me as much as colour racism though.

The discrimination is much based on the industrial society and historical slavery, but I agree - it's a great poem that should stand out and question whether we, even with all these laws, rights, political environment - are still equal as human beings?

Wah, we share the same country, and our heritage says we are NOT all equal. As do Americans.

We both live in Capitlist countrys, and the only way for us to be equal is to bring back communism, but look what that did to Russia!

First of all, Thank u lavindathar for posting this poem, I really like it.
Racial Discrimination is cruel and inhumane. We are all human and children of God. Treating members of another race badly is like being mean to a member of your family. If there are any members of the board who discriminate maybe this poem will show them why it is wrong. Thanx.

That is a very good poem Lavindathar!

I will try to put this 'nicely', but a large problem with racial discrimination still occuring in our country (US) is the 'special' treatment that minorities receive just b/c they are minorities!

We give so many concessions to minorities in this country that it is sickening. I am all for making an equal playing ground for everyone, but can't people see that all that matters is your qualifications! Your skin color or sex does not matter. If you are qualified then you get the job, if you're not then bye-bye. It sickens me that we still have a racial divide in the world, but until we start seeing everyone as equal (i.e. no special programs for anybody) then it will not happen!

So, is that not racisit against white people? Not that I am racisit. But I know a guy who is and (many people wont agree) but he says its not just the color he dosent like, he couldnt care less about color, its how they act.

And dont try to disagree, ever race acts a difrent way.

Moridin, I see what you mean, because sometimes positive discrimination is taken too far. I for one cannot stand it if I get into a discussion or arguement with someone from Turkey or Marocco (lots of people from those countries living in Holland) and they tell me I am probably a racist anyway just because I disagree with them...such a horrible way to misuse your own position as a discriminated group!! But can't you see that in most cases, positive discrimination is simply there because there is no other way in which everybody is treated equally??? For example, if we in Holland have a law that each company should hire at least 5% of employees with a physical disability, the reason is that these people would NEVER be hired otherwise!!! Sounds logical, doesn't it?
