I recently had my home PC upgraded. I had a large HD installed and ended up having to add a new DVD drive, motherboard, and even a faster processor. {sigh}

I thought that would solve any problems I had with the games on my PC, but I'm actually having new problems. My PC keeps CRASHING in my BGII game and ReBooting the system. I thought it was just a problem with my BGII game, but last night I installed Divine Divinity and I've had the same problem with it. I haven't even gotten past the first couple of encounters after 3 attempts. The game just crashes even when I'm not doing anything but looking around.

Does anybody have a suggestion as to what might be causing these repeated crashes?

could be a game problem, have you got the patches installed?

Could be hardware (most likely), do you have graphics drivers etc. uptodate?

Have you overclocked your pc? Is it running stably on other tasks?

How long have you had your upgrade for? It could be a corrupt component.

I had a similar problem recently, I updated my 3d card drivers (Nvidia) and that fixed it.

You need to turn off auto restart under system recovery properties.

Open system properties using the windows key and pause break. Choose "Advanced" and then Start up and Recovery settings. Now uncheck the box "Automatically Restart.", and click OK twice.

Now every time your PC crashes, it will revert back to the familiar BSOD, and give you a proper error message that you can use to troubleshoot your system. Write down the error msg, and plug it into the MS Knowledge Base and it should tell you what the problem is.
