I know CompUSA will install hardware that you buy there, often for free. If not, it will be a small charge, maybe $35. That's really the safest way to go, if you're not comfortable opening up a computer and doing stuff in there.

I'm sorry to hear you can't meet the game specs. Had a similar problem myself. An ancient 900MHz PIII with a GeForce2MX w 32MB and an ESS (mainboard chipset) sound card. I couldn't get Morrowind to load.

My recommendation is to play non-graphic intense games or to upgrade.
In my case, I upgraded.

I bought a GeForce4 TI4600 and built a new P4-based system around it... I know it's a bit of a draconian situation, but the pace of game development is far beyond business/generic software development. A computer good enough for the office, surfing the net or just goofing off isn't going to play the top-line graphical games consumers demand.

As far as building your own, assembly was a snap. The vendors I used off of pricewatch were all honest and caring. The prices I got were good. The PCGamer system recommendations were spot-on.

I now have a game-god system without all the useless stuff the "big boys" put on their system. (Nothing like a DVD player to sabatoge a program with interrupt or TSR incompatibilies.)

PLUS, because I built an open-architecture/modular system, upgrades (processor, video, sound) will be a snap in the future.

you can also find them online, at places like bestbuy.com, pricewatch.com, buy.com, etc, usually for much cheaper than in stores, however like AndyG said many computer stores will install the software for you for a nominal fee, without voiding your warrantee, my mom is extremely paranoid about that...

Memnoch, it's your fault that this site takes forever to load on my 56.6bps Modem!

Not really- just satiring people blasting NWN or other games for their own system's shortcomings.

I am not blasting NWN, oldbittercraig. I am blasting the stupid graphics on my computer. I mean, it's getting to the point where I can't even look at pictures on the internet, it just shows up as a big red x. I have been really wanting to download those character portraits from the Ironworks website, but what use are portraits if you cannot even see them?
