I currently have a party of my barbarian, Minsc, Jahiera, Anomen, Jan and Aerie. I wanted to know if you really needed a thief becuse I wanted to keep everyone but Jan and pick up Keldorn when I meet him.

I would suggest having a thief! There are many traps/locks in this game and a thief comes in quite handy. Of course the alternatives are spells. Knock and detect traps, but these waste spell slots IMHO.

Looking at my current party who would you suggest I drop for Keldorn. I was thinking Anomen and who's a better thief to have Jan or Nalia.

Anomen should go as you have Aerie already. Jan is a better thief then Nalia who is rubbish.

Turn off your sound, turn off the subtitles, toss out Aerie and sub in Keldorn. Anomen in my game was the 2nd best tank after my Kensai/Mage, and then the third best was Keldorn.
Give Anomen grandmastery in warhammers along with Crom Faeyr, Red Dragon Scale, ROP +2, Dragon Helm, Dragon Shield and ring of fire control, and he'll destroy a third of the people you meet. Of course that's still nothing next to a Kensai Mage, but who's complaining ? |

"""I wanted to know if you really needed a thief"""
Huh?? What can you be saying!! Of course you need a thief! In fact, you can do the whole game with JUST a gang of thieves! Thieves rock! Thieves rule! Thieves swashbuckle! Thieves can maze opponents, backstab any enemy into chunky bits, pierce the veil of illusions, sneak past dragons, lift priceless objects out of the hands of priestesses, toss a trap into crowd of enemies, poison even a regenerating troll to death, infiltrate deep underground complexes, handle Black Ops, and they look cool too. |
