A six hour film? Not me. I'll wait until they really do things properly (not just walking out the shire in a coule of minutes but the whole conspiracy bit, for example) and then sit out the 12 hour movie, without breaks, if I have to
To stay on topic, I did read LOTR after the film. I aslo read it about four times before the movie, Dutch version once at maybe nine and the English every time after. Most others in last year's class hadn't read it until the movie was almost out, only the four or five fantasy fans including me had. [ 08-20-2002, 03:00 PM: Message edited by: Legolas ] |

I read the novels twice before the film. I think the movie was too short (not to put the director down cause it's a great movie and it doesn't matter that some pieces were skipped)but when it finished I thought "**** already finished?" I'm really looking forward to seeing the next parts.

My mom read the series to me when I was seven. But when I was 11 I read it myself. Then agian, then agian, then the Belgariad, (my mom had read to me before), then Dragonlance, (which my mom had read to me also), then W.O.T.. Now I'm 15 and I've read Lotr 4 times, WOT once. (I'm working on the 2nd time) Belgariad twice, Dragonlance once, and a good deal of the Forgotton Realms books.
I thought the movie rocked.

MOST ABSOLUTLY NOT! I said she DID read to me, when I was 5, all the way till I was 7, but when I was 7 I got sick of it, and soon after started reading all the books she read to me before.
Now I read all the time. And Calaethis, insulting a superiour officer, even if you don't mean it, is a major offence. I will let you off this time, however, just because you didn't know. **walks away muttering. The very IDEA! humph. ME, not being able to read.**

Absolutely everybody says just what marvellous stuff Tolkien's trilogy is. Is it really that good?? Is my immortal soul destined for Hell if I don't read it? (I would have read it, but the sheer size of the trilogy makes me want to faint...)

I first read them when I was seven, then later, probably four or five times over all. Love the books, like the movie very much. Can I get into that six hour showing as well?! *that* would be awesome.
