Well being from Chester County PA

I can answer you.

Its really Pennsylvania DEUTSCH but it was bastardized into DUTCH

The Amish come from Germany (DEUTSCHLAND)..they speak High German to each other and hold church services in German.

Intill recently they even drove their horse and buggys without any lights at all. But after some horrible accidents involving Semis and Buggy were whole families were killed...they were forced to adapt to using battery powered lights.

Have you heard of Amish communities in Mexico? When I was at a US border post in Mexico, there was what appeared to be a clan of Amish all getting a visa. Very unusual looking people (I don't mean just clothes) with old style farmers clothing, and very old womens fashion.

I tried speaking to them but they shunned me. Possibly in fright?

A Mexican told me they spoke Deutch.

The whole day was wierd. Hundreds of us kept in this bizzarre pen-like fenced waiting area, for the whole day while our visas were processed (or rejected).

Had mine been rejected I would have been in a real pickle. I'd have been barred from re-entering the US. I would have been stuck in Mexico!

Instead I got the maximum years possible. I was praying my bottom off though I can tell you.....

Anyhow these guys were, as I said the most unusual looking people I think I've seen. If there are small Amish communities in Mexico, are they inbred at all?
