Confused.. Kensai\Mage

I'm resigned to this, but I figured I'd ask just to see if someone can give me an answer... Why can't my mage, who used to be a Kensai wear Bracers?? I realize that no bracers is a Kensai restriction, but I'm now a mage. Why am I still suffering from old restrictions? I guess it doesn't really matter since my robes provide armor class 5, but i am a little curious.

Dual and multi-classing gives you the advantages of both classes, and the disavantages of both classes. For instance: a fighter/cleric can only use cleric weapons. Even though you are technically a mage, you still have the restrictions of your previous class. If you notice, you cannot equip a sling either, as Kensai can't use ranged weapons (although they can use thrown weapons like daggers and darts). You can wear robes as a Mage because it is not considered armor.

That's not exactly true. A mage Dualed to Fighter suddenly learns how to use a sword, so the disadvantages don't really play a part. He\She can't wear armor cause it hinders spell casting, that happens no matter what. A Cleric\Fighter can only use cleric weapons because of religious issues.
If a mage gone fighter learns use of the swords and axes, then the reverse should be true. If Bracers are allowed by Spell Users, and now I am a full spell user, I should be able to use bracers. I no longer gain and exp as a Kensai.

well..theres no point in argueing the point is there. Thats the way the game works. Plus you could also look at it in this point of view. Kensai don't wear bracers because it hinders their sword fighting techniques. If you were to wear the bracers you wouldn't be able to use the Kensai abilities...understand?

I heard that Kensai/mage can use robes, like robe of Vecna and robe of () archmage. Can someone confirm or deny this?

They can wear robes, and cloaks. I don't think that a Kensai can use bracers, and that is why you are unable to equip them.
