This site is truly amazing! You can find an aerial view of your neighborhoods in the U.S. The closest images are from a mile up.
I found the house I grew up in, the house I owned in Tucson, and the house I live in now LOL! Not all areas are updated photos but if your house was there when the pics were taken, you can find it.

EDIT: Never try to spell satellite at 4 a.m. lol
hush

EDIT: Spelca added a site of satellite photos for Sweden below!

If you can find these types of sites for your country or others please post them here!

Cool and fun but kinda scary at the same time. All they need to do is attach a missile launcher or (in future years) some sort of beam weapon to those satellites and....dear oh dear.

Well they already have the technonlgy to use listening devices with precision, I wouldn't doubt that laser tecnology is that far ahead into the future if it hasn't been developed already.

I just thought it was cool to see my dad's house still has all of the trees around it that he planted in the late 50's and the two me and my sister planted in the 60's. (they are all there otherwise there would be gaps in the greenery surrounding the lot LOL) Baby pine trees in the back yard that we used to decorate at Christmas (including adding a star to the top without a ladder lol) were tall enough for me to walk under when I left home ha ha.

There are a couple of those things for Europe too. I know I found one for England once... And this is one for Sweden:

My Canadian friend also found her house on a satellite (sorry, I don't remember the url).

What a great site Moni. I tried locating a home where I grew up in Chicago. I was able to locate it, but couldn't get a very good view. You mentioned seeing trees and stuff. How does this work? What do I need to click on specifically? Thanks.

Spelca,
Thank you for the added link!
I am going to edit the title again and ask for more links to be posted as people find them so non-Americans will look here too.

Lady Avalon, do a search of the city/town you are looking for and a link or links will come up telling you what year (s) the arial photos were taken.
You have to have some basic knowledge of the city or town's layout so that you can click on that general area and eventually zoom in to the blocks you are looking for. I know when I was looking at Lytle and Tucson, there were arrows on each corner of the map for navigation. Tuscon's site even provided a street map to one side with street names matching the arial map I was looking at which made it much easier.
Dad's house was easy...small town, distinct landmarks, and a very long house (4 car garage attached to the house) on the corner of two streets easily recognizable from above.
