I think, Real Madrid will win the cup.

I watched the last game against Munich on TV. Real wasn't that good, but IMO when Ronaldo and Santos are back, they'll have the best team of the remaining eight.

As well as the club with the most debts of the eight, I reckon. Seriously, many large Spanish and Italian football clubs are indebted hundreds of millions of euro, while in other countries clubs with only a small fraction of that same debt go bankrupt, just because they couldn't fork up the last 35,000 euro. It's ludicrous.

You're right Groj, a club like real Madrid is being kept alive like a plant, just because they're Real Madrid. In Holland such a thing would be impossible. Football is business, and if you're not generating any money in business, you have no right of excistance. Sooner or later they WILL go down though, they can't keep this up forever.

Well, Real Madrid did have huge debts, nearly 200 million euros, but they sold there training complex to the Spanish government to pay them off. Your both right of course if it was any other club they would have been screwed .

The word is they now have their finances in order... We shall see in the future...

I *hate* Real Madrid. Who will win? AC Milan or Arsenal.

It appears all Italian clubs are in BIG trouble with huge debts. Roma for instance has a 250 million € debt. I guess it's only a matter of time until that whole league collapses.

200 million euro for their training grounds? 10 to 1 these weren't even worth 5% of that amount - a very fishy deal if you ask me.

Welcome to the fishy world that football is. In no other sport or industry you'll find a bigger number of shady managers, brokers, and clubpresidents.

Ever heard of Jesus Gil Y Gil ? He was El Presidente with Atletico Madrid, a club that didn't fair too well financially. No problem for Don Jesus though, he also happened to be mayor of a little place called Marbella, so he simply used cityfundings and taxpayers money to keep the club alive. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Ah yes, Gil y Gil... But isn't he spending some quality time in jail now?
