I updated to ver 1.03. When I try to load the game I get a microsoft error.
I updated all drivers etc. (I have the DVD) Then I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. It played just fine, except I have these compass like arrows over a revolving world all over the place. Very annoying. Are these supposed to be there? Doesn't seem like they should be. How do I get rid of them? I tried updating a second time but got the same results. So I'm playing ver. 1.00 with the compasses all over the place. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks |

Does the auto-update say that there are no updates available? I am thinking that when you uninstalled and reinstalled the game, maybe something of the old install stayed behind (its hard to get an uninstaller to do 100% of the work) and that is why the game is stuck in a problem. I say this because I uninstalled Nero 30-day trial a few months ago, and I STILL get error reports sometimes, telling me that Nero this or that, blah, blah. Very frustrating.

The updates loaded successfully through the updater automatically. But when I try to start the game I get a microsoft error. I'm thinking this may be a conflict issue but everything worked fine in ver 101. How can I update manually?
I'm not sure that would make a difference if the auto update said it had updated successfully. But I'll try anything. Thanks |

Okay, your response makes me change my mind. I'll have to think about it a while, or maybe somebody else will beat me to it before I get out of my final exam tonight.

You might have a problem with your .net files? Try reinstalling those. It's a pain, I know, and you shouldn't have to do it, I know...

If the autopatcher patched successfully, its doubtful that doing a manual installation of the patch would solve the problem. The .net files are checked on initial installation of the game. If they passed the installation check, its unlikely that the patch would have altered them in any fashion. Have you changed anything on your system between the time you installed the game originally and the time you patched? Anything? Drivers? [ 12-11-2006, 09:34 PM: Message edited by: Micah Foehammer ]

I found out from Obsidian that there are quite a few people (hundreds) with the same problem. From my understanding it has something to do with Atari
and Securom(?) and a security signature (or something on that order). So we just have to wait for them to fix it, whenever that may be. So for now we have to revert back to ver. 1.02. My problem now is that when I reinstalled, I'm at ver.1.00. I would like to load ver. 1.02 patch. Do you know where I can find the patch for ver.1.02? Thanks |

One of these sites may be of help. I don't know which is better, so I'll leave you to decide.
