agree 100% that monks should be able to use staffs.
i think it was an oversight in producing the game, or a limitation of the monk avatars, one handed weapons only. also they can't be proff in katana's but long swords are ok. i think baulderdash has a patch to fix this, not sure though. I totally agree........
When someone says the word "monk" you think of a guy in brown robes with a shaved head carrying a staff....... ------------------ |

YES!
I posted similar views on this subject in a thread about monks before, and I completely agree. To me, a monk ALWAYS conjures up a mental image of a guy with a staff. I love quarterstaffs, difficult to use well, and deadly yet graceful - a monk who could use them would be really cool. ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. I personally thought of the idea of shaolin monks using staffs. But that's just me.

It p***ed me off. I am a former Bo Jitsu instructor, i.e., a martial artist who can use a staff. I can also use dualled weapons (daggers, swords, sticks). The monk in the game has a USELESS off-hand. It does NOTHING!! Never have I encountered a style where part of your body is USELESS!

The monk in the game is a bit odd i think, and agree about the staff, but since when were monks known for detecting traps?(and not disarming them). Why can druids use Scimitars?(seems most unlikely!).Why cant rangers set snares and remove traps? I really think rangers should set snares.yes.

If you notice his attack animation he only uses one fist anyway. He switches between kick and punch. Staff would really be useful to hit kangax.

I agree that monks should be able to use staff (I mean, why daggers?). I do understand that their hands are supposed to be the weapons and they increase as weapons as you increase in levels. BTW, I'm not a guy in brown robes with a shaved head. And Grand-Ranger, have you never heard on Robin Hood and Friar Tuck (a monk)?
