Why mirror image doesnt always protect you from physical damage ?? Example: when the thieves backstab you they hurt you even if you have a mirror image !! At least the thief at the 7 things (the tavern in Waukeens promenade) did hurt me.
Why improved invisibility doesnt always protect you from spells ?? Example: in the mindflayers area, i casted an improved and attacked them, but they still casted spells at me. Why protections from magic and spell returning dont always protect you from spells ?? Example: again in mindflayer area, I used the spell returning (lvl 7) and the ability from the staff of the magi (spell trap) and still they casted spells at me and sucked my brain . SO WHY !?!?!?! Oh, and that mindflayer area is simply these 3 rooms or there is something ive missed ?? Its only to get some xp and the hammer or there is a quest that ive missed ?? THANKS |

Yes but even if i attack them they arent supposed to cast spells at me. I know they will see me and be able to attack me but not cast spells. And even if they do I have spell returning and spell trap so theoretically (?) they cant lower my intelligence nor hold or charm me.

I'll start with mirror image. It doesn't make you invulnerable, it just lowers the chance of you being successfully hit.
Second, improved invisibility only makes you unable to hit with spells that need to be directly targetted - you can't be struck by, say, a finger of death, but spells like fireball and confusion will still affect you. The mind flayers' psionic stun is actually an area effect spell. The same goes for spell turning. *sigh* : P |

Additional input on Psionics, the attack form of Mind Flayers, they aren't actually spells, per se, but innate mental attacks. MF's can sense you, mentally, even if they can't see you. The Int. drain is area, but if it's not affecting everyone, some of your characters saved vs. spell, which is wierd, but that's how they have it set up. In 2nd editon AD&D, they had started working on player psionics, which include things like a mind blank, which would shield those attacks.
