Yeah I used that patch to play TTD about a year ago Sweeet...

Birth of the Federation is a nice little game! Strategic empire-building and starship warfare Star Trek style. It takes a while to understand the nuances of the game - mainly because the manual explains nothing - but once you get a handle on it and find a method that works for you, it's great. A bit like Civilisation, come to think of it.

BotF doesn't work on XP or Win2000, but... I daresay you can find someone who can help with that. I did.

An easy 7, maybe even 8/10.

OKI.. the ones I have tried.. (1-5 5 being the best grade )

01) Quake Well.. not a game I would start up today, but at the time.. 5
02) Quake II Smae as above, would give it a 4.
03) Quake III Arena- Hmm, a great game with friends but booring as a single player game. 3.5
04) Thief II 4 Good game, only problem is that I´m not that patient when playing games...

06) Deus Ex Definately a 5. A good game with good story and that I played again only a few months ago again.
07) MDK 2 Pretty fun, but mostly annoying actually. 2
08) Unreal Tournament 5. Soo many hours of adrenaline fun.
09) Soldier of Fortune: Gold Edition 1. Bad sound, graphics that looks like someone makes after a numpy ride and tosses a pizza... :S

15) Mech Warrior 2Cool if you like big hunks of plate and metal, screaming rockets and "big is better" 3.5

Don´t miss Unreal 2, No One Lives Forever 1&2, Max Payne. Definately Shooters to play!!

Soldier of Fortune II is probably the most recent title of all of those, though nothign really beats good ol' fasioned Unreal tournament

01) Quake For it's day it was a great game, for today, i'd give it a 3
02) Quake II Same as quake
03) Quake III Arena It deserves a 7 but that's just for populatiry
04) Thief II 9
05) 5 "Sim" Titles, i.e., City, Copter, Safari, Isle, and Tower Bleh...
06) Deus Ex 7
07) MDK 2 6 It was ok but also very annoying and cartooney. You just can't mix action and comedy the way they did
08) Unreal Tournament 10! 10 10 10 10 10 10 10! HEADSHOT! Multi Kill Ultra Kill MONSTER KILL GodLike - The other side to quake 3, UT was the best game to be released ont he market for its time. Its engien was reused in Dues Ex and Alien Versus Predator. Along with other games.
09) Soldier of Fortune: Gold Edition WOOH This game is fun too. I dont think it runs on the UT engien but something like it. Wonderfull visuals and it has a ceinmativ feel. 9.5
10) Star Trek: Birth of the Federation - I haven't a clue
11) Asteroids 3D - Sounds stupid to me...
12) Wing Commander: Privateer - *shudder*
13) Railroad Tycoon II - *double shudder*
14) Redneck Rampage Rides Again! (Arkansas) - O_o ... You do that...
15) Mech Warrior 2 - For its time a 10, for now, something like 4...
16) Spec Ops: Platinum Collection. It includes:
16a) Spec Ops: Rangers Lead the Way
16b) Spec Ops: Ranger Team Brave, expansion pack
16c) Spec Ops II: Green Berets
16d) Spec Ops: Operation Bravo, expansion pack
I don't know jack when it comes to Spec Ops...

*edit* Sime Tower can be fun.. if you are really really bored

I thought the Thief series was outstanding. It is a thinking person's game and very intense at places, i.e. the Bonehoard, the Haunted Cathedral and Return to the Haunted Cathedral in T1, to name only a few. I would suggest buying both Thief 1 and 2 not only because of superb gameplay, but also there is an overarching plot abd T2 makes a whole lot more sense if you play and finish T1. In fact, I was over at my local EB and they had them package together! I am not a big fan of FPS, but Thief is a MAJOR exception in my book.

1,2 - used to be great for multiplayer, but very much out of date today. singleplayer wise they are crap.
3 - same as above, great for multiplayer and no singleplayer value, just that it's not outdated. there's also a lot of mods out there so you can turn in into a whole new game. worth having if you have a good connection
4 - haven't played it but all i hear about it is great things. after all, it's from the same people that brought us system shock 1&2 and deus ex, some of the best games ever imho.
5 - only played sim city out of those. it's quite addictive to build and manage a city, though you really have to like this sort of games to get any lasting value out of it.
6 - my second favorite game ever, right behind system shock 2. i simply can't understand how someone couldn't love this game . it's a rpg/fps combination with a great story, excelent atmosphere and very addictive gameplay. on a 1-10 scale, it's a 15 .
7 - only played the first part and it was actually very good. basicly a third person shooter (ala tomb raider) with some twisted humor (worlds most interesting bomb ). i heard the second part is alot like the first, so my guess is it's a good game. and did you know, it was made by bioware!
8 - my impresion is it's like quake3 with a superiority complex. it has more weapons with alternate fire styles, more game types (without mods) and just tries to go beyond q3 in every aspect. it fails though imho. personaly i prefer q3's 'back to basics' weapons and faster gameplay, but that's just me. if you're gonna try one of them, you should also give the other a chance.
9 - never liked it, it's just another 3d shooter, this time with extra violence. as that's the only thing it stands out by, it's not really worth it i guess.
13 - building railroads and playing with trains, what's not to like

i have no idea about the rest of the games on your list.

Great, but only in multiplayer. Singleplayer is alright to begin with, but you really have to move into multiplayer quickly.

02) Quake II

Better than Q1 in singleplay, but Multiplay is still essential.

03) Quake III Arena

Fast. With explosives. Worthless in single player.

04) Thief II

*INSTALL THIS NOW*

05) 5 "Sim" Titles, i.e., City, Copter, Safari, Isle, and Tower

Install city. Isle and Tower are acceptable. Junk Copter and safari.

06) Deus Ex

*INSTALL THIS NOW*

07) MDK 2

Odd. I like this, but some hate this. 3rd person insanity.

08) Unreal Tournament

*INSTALL THIS NOW*

09) Soldier of Fortune: Gold Edition

Dunno. Bit gory for my tastes. And I watched aliens and predator aged 5.

10) Star Trek: Birth of the Federation

Civilisation in space. Very slow, very deep strategy.

11) Asteroids 3D

Retro Remake. Good for a giggle after a few points.

12) Wing Commander: Privateer

*INSTALL THIS NOW*

13) Railroad Tycoon II

*INSTALL THIS NOW*

14) Redneck Rampage Rides Again! (Arkansas)

Dunno.

15) Mech Warrior 2

*INSTALL THIS NOW*

LOL, looks like Railroad Tycoon is well loved by IWers Looking at the scores so far I think it comes out top of the list, something I agree with wholeheartedly
