OK... this is strange, I returned the RAM I bought and bought two 128 ones instead. I put them in my computer, and my computer still say I only have 128 RAM.

Does anyone know why it does that? I am very annoyed now. This is pissing me off.

The ram isn't compatible with your motherboard or other components of your machine. At least that has happened to me as I had the same problem buying ram. I bought some and it didn't work and was accused of having a bad slot. But no because i put my old ram in and it worked fine. Then once setting the moron at the store straight i was given some ram from a different brand and it worked fine.

If your PC was running at 119 for an extended period, you've got fried
component(s) syndrome. Your CPU cache memory is almost assuredly ruined. It's the first thing to go. Excess current/voltages/etc. may have damaged other components on the main board also. Did you have a bad CPU fan?

Being that you're running an older machine the BIOS probably doesn't support more than 128MB. Check for a BIOS update from the manufacturer.

My computer is not overheating, by the way. It's not even hot. That fan program didn't detect my fan either.

I did find out what is the problem, by the way. But not how to fix it. My computer always detect half the RAM I have installed.

When I put the 256, it saw 128
I put 2 128, it see 1 128
I tried only one 128 at a time, and in both case, it see 64.

It was not doing that before I put the new RAM in.

I asked my friends, and none of them ever heard of something like that. And the strange thing is that I changed nothing in my DOS or BIOS. I simply changed the ram.

Has anyone ever heard of something like that?

Sounds like your mobo is on its way south. I wouldn't worry to much about monitoring programs, half of them don't work very well and the other half only work with certain boards.

That RAM problem certainly is odd mind you, I've never heard of anything other than a faulty mobo causing that. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

I don't understand why it does that. It was working fine, I bought the new RAM and put it in, and it does that.

Just a guess, but you had mentioned some HUGE problems previous to your new RAM installation, so it's possible that the mobo was on it's way out with your old RAM installed, hence the VCache errors and irratic crashing. It sounded like Windows was trying to write to RAM that the mobo couldn't access. Like I said though, I hope I'm wrong.

I found out the problem.

I tried putting in my old RAM, and it fully detect it, so it seem the new RAM is not compatible with my computer.

I'll have to go return the RAM again tomorow. This time I'll bring myold RAM too.
