Well "one" of the best games ever anyhow
Anyway, I'm at that town where have to buy a ship and go off into the land of pirates. I'd just like to get a bit of an idea how much more of this game there is to play. Also, I just made a post on the Wiz8 froum as to how dead the combat in the Wiz8 demo is compared to this game. Just not the same excitement. Not sure if to get Wiz8 or not? |

Ha, you're in Brimlooch. Well, you are technically 2/3 through the game. Just for your info, you have 4 dungeons left. Also, you'll find that you climb the level ladder quickly in this part of the game

Ryan's comments are spot on. 4 more dungeons to go and watch your level skyrocket and you can change roles so fast and get to level 12.. quite unbelievable..
In terms of Wiz8, I was in a similar position. I found W&W very easy to play and it was a pleasure watching the characters grow. I tried the Wiz8 demo, wasn't that impressed, but thought that I'd give the full game a try. I would say that Wiz8 is technically a much more sophisticated game - bigger and hardly any bugs. The combat sequences do take a little longer although you do have a lot more choices to make.. I have been playing Wiz8 for over a month now and it is very playable. I'm not that excited about replaying Wiz8, although I will do so just to try some of the other characters such as gadgeteer.. This is in marked contrast to W&W which I replayed so many times looking for new features. So, overall I still prefer W&W (but I'm probably in the minority). |

Welcome to the board, PhilM13!!!
As Ryanamur said - you are "technically" 2/3rds of the way through the game but I've always considered the Brimloch Roon area "larger" than the other 1/3rds - still it's a pretty fair evaluation. I started playing Wiz 8 and gave up on it because of the mixture of sci-fi and medieval. I don't like my CRPG genre mixed. It played very well but just didn't grab me the way W&W did. Wyv |

I can see great differences between the two games. I like a lot of things in Wiz & War and hate a lot of things in Wiz8.
In Wizards & Warriors you lack anyway of tilting the camera angle. Trying to look down at the ground is most frustrating. Not to mention trying to get something that is in a crevice is near impossible. The game is very linear. You do not have the option to roam about much. If you do not do things in a certain sequence you are up the creek. In Wiz8 it seems to be all fight oriented. Very little quests, but lots of fighting. Add to that the frustration of leveling up only to find the monsters are equal or greater then you when you find them. This game requires much planning and forethought into party creation. Much more than W&W does. You have more freedome to roam about, but that doesn't mean you will have victory around every corner. On the positive side: W&W does allow you to reroll for better stats in the character creation stage. Many hours are spent just trying to get stats that total 80 or more so you can advance to the elite class that much sooner. The fighting is much better balanced and the there are lots of quests.

Yeah, I'm finding running away from the bad arsed
monsters (Swallowers) in turn based style all a bit too strange. I'm getting more use to using the hot keys and find the combat lot better now though. Even a glimse of Excitement!!! yes But that turn based movement.... ....hmmmm, man I don't know? |

Nar... bugga it, I'm gunna say it....
"THE" best game ever!!!! I feel sad knowing I've only 1/3 to go. Every time I here that music when I start up this game. It just gives me a great feeling inside, and I know the next few hours will be some of this life times finest. I even that love the dated graphics now |

The last true CRPG (computer RPG) that I can recall replaying prior to W&W was Wiz 6 which I replayed to check my notes for the walkthru I was writing, not because I loved the game (I didn't). Now, I did replay Wiz I, II and III many times and I've played Diablo (I not II) repeatedly because it is can be amusing without being too demanding. W&W is replayable! It is fun to replay and in many ways is MORE fun on the replay than on the first time through. There are tons of variations that players have used for their replay fun - fewer characters, only one character, no cheats at all, and on and on. Lots of ways to create a new challenge and continue enjoying the W&W world! Besides, replaying W&W gives you an excuse to continue hanging around here too! Wyv |

Of course, if you're talking about the ability to switch from a first person to an overhead or side view, that is lacking. I'm not sure I miss it, though.
