but Ironworks has a sig-limitation thingy goin' on... It can't be higher than 155 pixels and have 2-3 lines of text under it, so that comes to barley 200 pixels of scrolling you have to worry about, unless they have on a sig which is beyond the limit, in which case they are in trouble, it is only under special circumstances by which their old sigs may be kept (note i said kept, as in they had it that way before these rules were enacted) etc... ect... yada-yada you get the point good day!

Sheesh people, tempers, tempers.
Why don't you all take a deep breath right now, those veins swelling in your necks don't look too healthy

All Vaskez proposed is that when you post multiple times in a row, maybe you could turn off your sig after the first time? Or if you only post a single line of text, you leave the huge sig off?

HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT DOING AWAY WITH SIGS ALTOGETHER

(extremely sorry about the idiotically large font folks, since it is Internet-code for SCREAMING it's not exactly my usual style, but some people seem to think it actually strengthens their argument, so maybe my argument will be strengthened in their eyes if I yell back just as hard...)
So get don't get your knickers in a twist, no one is suggesting you cannot post your sig anymore!! I happen to be a big fan of my own sig, I sure as hell won't stop posting it. Doesn't mean we all can't use a little restraint every now and again! LordK, I'm not surprised to see you get upset by Vaskez' suggestion since I must have seen you post your sig dozens of times yesterday. It's not exactly small, you know? What's so bad about using it every *other* post in stead of every single one if you happen to post five different times in the same thread?
Crimson, your suggestion that people who like Vaskez' idea should bugger off to another forum is completely over the top mate. I would say that maybe the ones that are in need of another forum are the people who fail to understand, appreciate and support the friendly supportive atmosphere on Ironworks, WHICH INCLUDES AT LEAST RESPECTING OTHERS' OPINIONS NOT CALLING THEM ASS BACKWARDS!

Finally, you're all acting like you're going to be forced to ditch your sig. Like Cloudbringer said, it's *Ziroc* who makes the rules, no one else.
Vaskez made a nice proposal, and using common sense maybe we can all prune our sigs if we post it in the same thread for the umphteenth time. You know, it may actually save Z some server space!! But don't react as if it was anything more than a proposal, a suggestion. You can choose to ignore it.

You know I've been doing that for over 2 years now Just never felt a need to make a big public to-do about it... These sorts of things are best handeled behind the scenes anyway...
Dude, Cloudbringer's a moderator - it's her JOB to remind people of the rules! If you like, you can PM people all you want and I'm absolutely sure it's much appreciated but don't presume to take over her job or tell her when or how to do it!
Besides, two years? Not on THIS forum you didn't.

Off topic, while we're on the subject of signatures anyways... Cloudy, yours isn't showing. Or at least not on my computer. Unless you dropped your original signature in favour of a trendy white box with a red x.

Ah... the old white box-red x signature... are they coming back into fashion again? I remember the days when everybody had them.

I sort of agree with Vaskez - but I think the main culprit is one line posts, not five line signatures. Just my 2 cents...

Perhaps we should have an option in our profiles that allows us to not see signatures when we're looking at the forum ??

Wasn't that one of the standard options within the UBB-software? Or am I confusing it now with vBulletin?
edit: Either way, if it is, it's disabled at this point.

I think there should be a rule that we should only include our signature in a post if the post material is longer than the signature (in number of lines).
You got my vote on that. Most sigs are just to big or too long or too distracting. Hey, I am not pointing any fingers here...just making a statement.
