This is the first game where I've consistently run Chameleon from the time I first got it (I also always have Armorplate, Magic Screen, Missile Shield and Enchanted Blade going, along with Light, which is a good practice spell). Shoot, I'd run X-ray all the time too, except it seems to slow down the action some.

I've been able to avoid fights several times when my gals were gasping their last after fighting off several big groups.

My favorite moment came after I killed the breeders at the Ratkin Tree. Not only did I not get jumped by what usually seems like hundreds of Ratkin, but I was actually able to sneak up *behind* the one group I encountered and stab em in their um...dignity. Way to go, ladies!!

Wish I'd run Chameleon consistently my first few times through. It certainly does make a big difference.

yes... though it varies... things ive found that reduce its effectiveness.
1. your party running
2. your party with search option on
3. approaching from infront of the enemy.

all logical really.
hiding behind stuff also helps

Yah, there are a lot of threads where we've talked about Chameleon, i use it every game, especially to sneak past Nessie. You can use the board's search to find more Chameleon info. Have you tried Guardian Angel much?

Sure have. Love it, especially for the magic users.

I just think of it in a class with Bless and other spells you can only cast during combat.

I've been a lot more organized this time through about keeping the good stuff active outside of combat and casting those protective spells at the beginning of combat. Good stuff.

Also I think the Light spell reduces its effectiveness.

yes... ive used guardian angel a little, not as much as bless though, i like it that bless covers all party members and boosts their AC and hitting abilities.
guardian angel is usually only applied if one character is being "picked on"

It's supposed to, and it makes sense that it should (your weary band are crouching behind a tree heaving a sigh of relief and forgetting about that light glowing in the treetops! ), but I've forgotten it was active a number of times and can't tell that it really *does* reduce its effectiveness. For RPing purposes I try not to use them at the same time.

Later in the game I almost never have light cast anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Hmm, I never had any use of this spell (chameleon). I had more use of speedy characters that can cast their spells first in combat.
