My original understanding was....

Usually you are allowed to summon 5 creatures. And if some die you can create some more, again up to a total limit of 5. If you go to a different area and leave some summoned creatures behind, you cannot create anymore to go over the limit of 5 while they still exist (the duration of the summoning spell). If you sleep, you can then create some more even though you left some behind as they theoretically have been unsummoned. In reality they only become unsummoned when you return to the area you left them.

My difficulty is....

I have been playing for half the game with a limit of 3. I assume that 2 are left somewhere and it must have occurred at least 20 game days ago. But they should have been automatically unsummoned (game)days ago. So I've been thinking, what does the game do if you create some in an area, you leave the area, the plot recreates or adjusts the area you were in, wiping out the summoned creatures, but not resetting the counter???

What do you think?
Or help! How do I reset the total allowed to 5?

You have to go back to the same area and then they dissapear.
(Dont know why) The limit should be returned to normal.

That doesn't happen with me. I play a totemic druid and have Jaheira (with fire elemental. I'm a crazy summoner and no problems found. I left my creatures behind a thousand of times but everything works great. Do tyou have the patch.

You openly declare Tiax as your enemy? Surrender and acknowledge him as your lord and sovereign or be destroyed!

Well that depends if Tiax can get past my boot first!

Tiax is weak in comparison to the mighty biscuit king anyway.

ALL PAY HOMAGE TO THE BISCUIT KING AND HIS THRONE OF SCONE.
BOW DOWN TO HIS MIGHTY PICTURE OF POP AND FRESH WITH THE SCEPTER.
ONLY THE GRILL WILL KILL THE BISCUIT KING, HORAGHHH!

If you use a Simulcrum and summon monsters from THEM.

Something else happens.

But if you left the summoned creatures in an area you can no longer get to, eg the demon area of the planar sphere, how can you get them unsummoned?

As you can't return there, you can't unsummon them and for the rest of the game you are at a lower amount.

Or if not the demon area, how about areas that get recreated as part of the plot where the memory of the old place is forgotten

Wave a magic wand and everything will be alright again, to be honest it sounds like a bug so go to http://members.home.net/mrkevvy and download Kevin Dorners bug fixes.
