I am currently in chapter 2 when this problem started. When I load any of my saved games the game is unplayable. The frame rates are awful. I have been running it with the details pretty low and have tried turning the details as low as it can go with hardly any difference in performance. I was running with patch 1.30 and have reinstalled the game and have upgraded to 1.61. That didn't help either. I've tried reinstalling video card drivers which didn't make any difference.

Here are my system specs:
PIII 550
ATI Radeon 7200 driver ver 3.10
Asus p2 99 Mobo has most recent bios
256 MB Ram
Promise 100 TX2 SCSI with current drivers and bios
Windows 98 with all updates available

I do have the most recent inf drivers too. Everything was running fine with this configuration for weeks and out of the blue it started running crappy. The opening movie runs smooth. I have Morrowind and Gothic Installed and they run just fine.

Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks

Radeons were supposed to cause trouble with NWN. Though I don't know how exactly and if that's only in certain parts of the game.

Try setting your sound to 'Miles fast' and see if it makes a difference.

Windows 98 was not good for my NWN game. I installed XP and am now doing fine. You said that you were running it fine for weeks and doing fine, but within those weeks, have you received an update to Win98? You said that you are updated on it, so I am wondering if a new security update might have thrown your OS off to the inability to play the game.
It's just one idea of many that could be causing the problem.
