it is hard to argue with results.

Hard to argue with the results of that case...

I just found out from my wife that Alex, my Nephew, is on a timed-release pill, that slowly goes into the system, which does not upset his stomach, and is non-addictive, unlike the previous version.

A new study may show that the kids thought to have ADD and all may in fact be suffering from such things as lack of sufficient sleep, due to bad dreams, snoring, or other problems. That could cause them to not be happy little children the next day, and be misdiagnosed as HDD or ADD. Does anybody else have more info than that? It is interesting to me.

[/QUOTE]Now that I would believe! I have suffered from disturbed sleep patterns my whole life - insomnia (trouble falling asleep, not early waking which is a sign of depression, never had that) and night terrors, may explain a lot. Night terrors are fairly common amongst the under 10s - most (but not all, I'm one of the 'lucky' ones ) grow out of it.

Attention Defisite Hyperactivity Disorder is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Thus, drugs such as ridilin CAN help, but dont necesarily. I have it from a reliable source (someone I know who has ADHD) that "ridilin sucks".
Thus, I would say that it helps some people; but not everyone.

Oh, with the "this person seems hyperactive" diagonosis, it involves a fairly long list of criteria, filled with things like "Must have 2 or more of the following"- that style of diagnostic criteria is fairly standard now, thank god... if someone were to diagonose ADHD and prescribe ridilin to someone who had Aspergers Syndrome, and thus didnt need ANY drug, it could CAUSE a chemical imbalance...
