ever get the feeling that when you are tired and it's time to sleep, you just don't want to. Not willing to give way for tomorrow, clinging onto the last seconds of today as if regretting...
I get this feeling every now and again. Usually on Friday and Sat nights when the next day doesn't have to get up so early.
I get this feeling because i feel unsatisfied, or perhaps unaccomplished in something?
I'm not sure how to get around this...
Uni work is going 9/10 pretty good....
but my love life is rock bottom, i've made countless friends, have a lot of fun. But there is that itch that sting, pecking away in the dark.... All my friends are slowly getting into long relationships, and i am nearing the end of my uni...
just wondering sometimes... i know what i have to do in life and am focused. I don't really want a relationship to spoil my final year... but sometime when i have a quiet moment, when i've done all my work...
the feeling of loneliness creeps in.
And sometimes friends can't fill that gap...

oh well
thanks for reading!

Avatar, i am like that alot, it is mostly regret, for me anyway, about losing my childhood, and not being carefree anymore. I miss being able to have fun, and not worry about tomorrow until tomorrow, understand what I mean?

Yes, and then tomorrow finally comes, and is halfway over by the time I decide to go to bed

Cheer up. I'll go out with you if it'll make you feel any better

I used to get this alot when I was a teen. I used to go for walks outdoors at all hours in the night just hoping something would happen. Later when I got older and started studying psychology I realized It's actually a mild form of depression and really signals that you are not happy with your life as it is right now.

I don't know how old you are Avatar, and am not trying to put it down to teenage hormones or anything but they do have something to do with suppressing this feeling of unfulfillment. On a sunconscious level you want something and know exactly what it is but on a conscious level all you know is this day something is seriously lacking.

Bingo.

The effects you are suffering from are acute depression. This often happens when you are coming close to closing a chapter in your life, whether it is moving out of the house or completing school. Seeing as how you are in your final year of school, I’m willing to bet you have some doubts as to your future and what life will be like when you complete school. The regret you may be feeling as a result from seeing other couples could be because you are interpreting those relationships as a form of continuity between school and the future.

The real question would be what do you think about when you lie awake?

Man, I get like that all the time. Just recently I finished viewing BTVS on a sunday evening, cuz there was nothing else for me to do, I was alone. When it was finally over (at the end of every season I might add), I got all mooshy and stuff, felt empty and alone, wondering what they will do next, why am I alone, why won't anyone call or anything.....

I'm single again (my last GF didn't really work out, another story) and that plays a part too. A friend of mine has been in a realtionship for 6 years now or maybe even longer. They've moved in together and everytime I come over, I feel the feeling of missing something. Having someone to share your life with is truly a blessing, but also really rare to find (for some of us anyhow).

But whenever I get that feeling of universally loneliness, you know what I do? I start a ruckus!! I grab the cats and start playing with them, running through the house like maniacs, they love it. I put on music real loud (but not sentimental stuff, just plain SOAD or house-music, things that get your spirit up. I go watch a comedy, an anime (not akira!!! -> major depression afterwards), or simply watch dumb-TV. Point of all this is to get your attention away from the thinking, because the thinking is what gets you down. Now it's OK for us to think every now and then, but when it happens every night, it starts to get a little neurotic, me thinks.

So OK, we're all reasonably smart people, we are accomplishing one thing or another and it's all good, but not having a partner can gnaw on you on the lonely days, especially christmas (thank god I still life with my mom ). It's the natural urge to propagation. Just don;t resort to drinking like I once did and you'll be fine.....

I guess my dilemmaia a two fold one.
First of all, I know what i want but I don't really want it. That doesn't make any sense literally. What I want is a girlfriend to share my life with but I at the same time I don't have the time or the energy. So i guess i never pursue the relationship course these days.
Second of all, I am also troubled by career paths.

Heh man I feel like that all the time. I never want the day to end due to feelings you've described. And it's also the same situation on the relationship front. I even know a girl who I suspect likes me but I'm worried about the time and energy and emotional stress that comes with a relationship esp. in my final year where the amount of effort I put in will determine whether I get a 1st or 2.1. So for now I'm just gonna see how it goes.
