ok, i'm on chapter 6 with my first character...this is the 1st time i have played BG2 all the way though(i havn't beat it yet) but anyway i wanna take a break from that game for a couple of days and start my solo guy.
here's the problem. i don't know what class i should be. i like casting powerful mage spells like fireball/death/magic missle/etc but i also like to hack and slash like a fighter. also the kensi class appeals to me but i hate the thought of no armor. could say the same with a monk. and what about disarming traps and picking locks? and if i solo i need someone who is resistant to fear/charm and other mind spells. so what do i do? i'm thinking go with two characters at the insane level of difficulty. a thief that has all of his ability points divided between detect traps/open locks and then when i start the game dual him over to either a cleric or mage. and have my main character start as a Cavalier because they are immune to lots of stuff and dual him over to a kensai. however i just thought of another question. which would be better a cavalier or undead hunter? and when either of those level up what "gets better"? IE should i dual over to kensai 1st thing or wait till they hit a certain level because of some good thing? sorry for the long post...i kinda rambled. let me know what you think, expecially about the cavalier vs undead hunter and at what level to dual over.

If you want to solo, then don't dual. Just go as a FMT. This is great because you get to experience alot from the game: stronghold options, weapons, items, spellcasting, pickpocketing, unlocking things, hide in shadows, backstabbing, special class abilities, better fighter, etc. And yes epsecially you'll need the thief abilities when your're alone.

Go To: http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursga...ies/archer.php
Then If You Want To Look At Other Options Apart From The Archer, Scroll Down And Look On The Menu On The RIGHT Hand Side... Lots Of Options

Like Jabidas I would recommend the Sorcerer, but it does require some knowledge of the spells in the game to play him efficiently enough. Another one I like is the Berserker dualed to Cleric at level 9 or 12.
Or how about the legendary(well more or less) Jester? Haven't tried it yet though...I like the Blade for a bit of a challenge. In SoA I would take an Undead Hunter before a Cavalier, because leveldrainers are soooo annoying |

Do Nalia's quest for a fighter, do Planar Sphere for mage, OR do Maevar quest for thief.
so if i want the thieves guild as a stronghold, i do it and get it as a stronghold. after that can i go do the other two quests like normal? or can i not do them at all?

However, like I said before, you can use the correct MoveToArea codes to those strongholds after you've done the required quests AND then you would be offered the guilds. Its real cool to do this but rather too much responsibility for my liking. Just so you'll know as another option, if you use the codes with any class, you will be able to get the strongholds no matter what class you are. So, if you are just a mage, you do the Nalia quest, and then you use the correct code to warp in the keep, you WILL be in charge of the keep even if you are just a mage. This trick may not work for every stronghold. Hope that helps Angry Dwarf. [ 04-03-2002, 09:04 PM: Message edited by: Kaneida ] |
