The results of the 2004 elections:

European People's Party - European Democrats (EPP-ED)
christian-dem./conserv.
36,6% of the votes.
Party of European Socialists (PES)
social-dem.
27,3%
Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE)
liberal
12,0%
European Greens - European Free Alliance (GRE-EFA)
green/regionalist
5,7%
European United Left - Nordic Green Left (EUL-NGL)
socialist/communist
5,6%
Indepencence and Democracy (IND-DEM)
anti-european
4,5%
Union for a Europe of Nations (UEN)
nationalist/conserv.
3,7%
Non-affiliated (NI)
4,5%

Over the next few days, I will graduately (how do you spell that?!) begin to brainwash the European Ironworks members with ALDE propaganda. Remember people, a vote for the People's Party is a vote for Berlusconi.

Is the VVD in the liberal party?

In any case, the fact that 1,5 million people voted for a party without any clear ideas (LPF) here in Holland is enough proof that democracy here is a bad idea...

VVD is part of the Liberal party, as is D66. And I fear that people know too little about European Politics (the difference between the European Commission and the Counsil of Europe, anyone?) to vote properly. In fact, many people just cast protest votes against their respective governments without knowing just what they vote for.

It's my standard example. I don't often get to rant about Europe, so I don't often have to change my lines to remain original

*GRADUALLY*

Ummm...we only have two parties that ever stand a chance, and at times in our history have only had one...I probably should just snicker and walk away from this one....

I was about to post this, but Ilander beat me to it.. To be honest I really shouldn't be the one checking on spelling and such, because I myself make mistakes all the time. I know my grammar is absolutely horrifying at times.
