My speakers are Dolby 5.1 (5 speakers and a bass). Lately, for some strange and odd reason, if I'm playing some music it would just stop. It would then come back later. But then the sound always sounds echoey. I thought I could fix this by going into Control Panel -> Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices -> Change the Speaker Settings (In Windows XP). I changed the settings to 5.1, and the problem was fixed. But now if I turn on the stereo, the sound stops altogether. What happened to the bass?

Is it because the 'bass' is actually Stereo, and I had changed the setting to 5.1?

My speakers are all echoey too!!! Curse the Ironworks plague!

okay, now that that's over, anybody know why speakers would have an echo? Mine work just fine hooked to anything else, but they echo like madmen on this computer...

I used to get the same proble, I have the computer set up through a stereo and I thought the problem was in my sound card, but then I found that my computer was trying to force the sound to be played in a weird stereo setup, I use stereo sound, but Windows was using its own style or something.
