It raises your wisdom to 18 so you could memorise more cleric/priest spells right? but it only lasts for 6 hrs....
So if u were to take it then memorise ur spells the new ones wouldn't b there for u to use until u actually rested....
But then u have to rest for 8 hrs at a time!
So it would of run out 1st?!!?!
which defeats the purpose of it?
y use in the 1st place?

anybody tell us?

Thanks

The potion isn't just there so you can memorise more priest spells... it has other uses, too.

Your thinking here is logical, but like PCgiant say's, memorising more priest spells isn't really what the potion is for. It has other uses such as raising lore, opening more dialog options and it has exceptional uses for a particular mage spell (or two )

doesn't a higher intelligence also raise some of your resistance to certain mind-affecting spells??

2nd edition handbook says
"(Wisdom) applies to saving throws against magical spells that attack the mind:beguiling, charm, fear, hypnosis, illusions, possession, suggestion, etc."

Wisdom over 19 actually starts granting immunity to some of these spells, too, and at 25 Wisdom you'd be immune to about 20-25 mind altering spells.

Also, Wisdom is supposed to have an effect on your chances of spell failure. So Priests with low wisdom scores and party members alike may be highly upset at that one.

Not sure how much of this was actually implemented into the game tho.

Well so much about authors being excact about implenting all the rules.
But still they did a hell of a good job.!
